Chamberlain’s Nembrotha Nudibranch – Puerto Galera

This macro underwater photograph, two vibrant Chamberlain’s Nembrotha nudibranchs are positioned in the foreground, with their bodies close together, suggesting interaction. Their bodies are a rich, dark maroon color, textured with subtle, wavy lines. Contrasting this dark hue is a striking pattern of bright yellow and pale, almost white, flesh-like markings that outline irregular shapes on their sides. The nudibranchs have prominent, bright red, feathery appendages extending from their anterior ends. These structures are highly detailed, showing individual frills and a velvety texture. Further back on their bodies, they have other sensory tentacles, also red and ribbed, which are pointed upwards or outwards. A striking element of their coloration is the presence of vivid purple patches visible around their oral regions, adding another layer of intense color. The overall impression is one of exotic marine life, showcasing the extraordinary colors and forms found in the underwater world. The detail captured allows for an appreciation of the intricate textures and patterns of these fascinating creatures. This image was taken off Puerto Galera on Midanoro in the Philippines.
