Peacock-tail anemone shrimp – Puerto Galera
This is an extreme close-up, underwater photograph of a Peacock-tail anemone shrimp (Periclimenes brevicarpalis). The shrimp is predominantly transparent with white markings on its head and thorax. Its segmented body and delicate legs are clearly visible. There are black speckles and irregular white spots scattered across its body and legs. Its antennae are thin and extend outwards. Its eyes are small and black. Its legs are segmented and tipped with vibrant royal purple claws. The shrimp’s body is bent, and its claws are extended, appearing almost delicate and feathery.
The sea anemone’s tentacles dominate the background, creating a soft, undulating texture. The overall impression is one of organic curves and rounded forms. This image was taken off Puerto Galera on Midanoro in the Philippines.
